Pegintron is used to treat long-term hepatitis C, which is a disease of the liver caused by hepatitis C virus infection. In adults, Pegintron can be used in patients who have not been treated before or whose previous treatment failed.
It can be given in triple therapy combination together with boceprevir and ribavirin to adults with type 1 hepatitis C. In other patients with Hepatitis C virus in their blood, Pegintron give with ribavirin or on its own if they cannot take ribavirin.
