Humira is an injectable medicine that helps to reduce the symptoms of certain inflammatory conditions. The drug became FDA approved in 2002. There are no generic brands available yet.

The TNF blocker helps to reduce and prevent inflammation in the body. When individuals have higher levels of TNF in the body, inflammatory conditions arise. The substance is produced by the immune system and when the body cannot block the higher levels of TNF, inflammation, pain, and other symptoms occur.

Humira Dosage

Humira dosage is dependent on the medical condition that is being used to treat. It is an injectable medicine and is only intended for use in adults, unless being used to treat juvenile idiopathic arthritis. The following dosage is an average dose and could differ among individuals. Follow your medical professional"s directions for best results.

  • Rheumatoid Arthritis: 40mg every other week
  • Psoriatic Arthritis: 40mg every other week
  • Ankylosing Spondylitis: 40mg every other week
  • Crohn"s Disease: 160mg to start, followed by 80mg
  • Ulcerative Colitis: 160mg to start, followed by 80mg
  • Plaque Psoriasis: 80mg to start, followed by 40mg
  • Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis: 20mg every other week
