This medication is used in controlling high blood sugar. It helps treat type 2 diabetes. By controlling increased blood sugar, the medication can help prevent blindness, kidney damage, nerve problems, sexual function problems, and loss of limbs. Proper control of diabetes could lessen the risk of suffering from stroke and heart attack. Women with polycystic ovarian syndrome, a disease of the ovaries may also be treated using Glumetza. It may also be prescribed to increase fertility, and regulate menstrual cycles.
