Copaxone is used to treat patients suffering from the inflammatory disease, multiple sclerosis. Multiple sclerosis occurs when nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord are damaged. Symptoms of the disease include, loss of sensation, muscle weakness, muscle spasm, difficult moving, difficulties with balance, and more.
Copaxone is used to treat these symptoms and prevent the relapse of MS. There is currently no cure for multiple sclerosis. The prescription drug helps to suppress the inflammatory response and acts as a decoy to the autoimmune response. Copaxone is administered through subcutaneous injection.
