Climara Uses

When a patch of Climara is applied on our skin, it releases estradiol in the blood by using the skin as the medium. Women who have had their womb removed should not take this medication alone, but they can take it when mixed with a hormone that is known as progestin. Dosage of Climara depends on the individual and the condition being treated. You should always take medication precisely as your doctor prescribes it. Climara is a patch that should be applied weekly. When throwing away Climara patches, you should fold them in half to avoid leakage of estrogen hormones. Below you will find a typical dosage of Climara.

  • Wash and dry the area to which you wish to apply the patch (lower abdomen or upper buttock)
  • Apply the patch and press it firmly for 10+ seconds to ensure adhesion
  • Leave the patch on for one week
  • If the patch falls off, you should replace it with a new one
  • See your doctor about stopping use after 3-6 months
