- The dosage of Alvimopan is usually administered orally in the form of a 12 mg capsule prior to the beginning of the surgery.
- The exact time of the initial dose varies according to the physician"s discretion and is normally between thirty minutes to five hours before the surgery.
- Following the surgery, the maintenance dosage of Alvimopan continues as a 12 mg capsule to be administered twice daily for up to a seven day duration for the hospitalized patient.
